It's been a while since I last published something substantial. Although my works in progress have seen some movement, my focus has shifted chiefly towards studying the art of storytelling and writing in general.
Several months ago, I began using Artificial Intelligence to create and drive the videos for my TikTok channel. While I wasn't opposed to AI as a writing tool, I believed writers should rely on their creativity to craft their stories.
However, TikTok eventually banned me. It appears they are susceptible to my style of writing. Whenever I mentioned my character committing a violent crime, it violated their guidelines, and I found it challenging to stay within their boundaries. I started using AI to help me "make appropriate" content. Through this process, I learned a few things: AI has evolved and, in many ways, has become a better writer than I am.
Discovering this, I delved deeper into AI creativity and was utterly amazed by what I found. Having taken creative writing courses at the university in 2015, I can confidently say that AI now knows more about style and technique and executes them better than I ever could.
Continuing my exploration of AI's creative capabilities, I even had it write a song about my book. As a rock fan, it turned out to be a rock song, but I've also experimented with AI, creating hip-hop, pop, and other genres.
AI's ability to produce remarkable creative works of art is undeniable. At this point, this should come as no surprise to anyone.
We definitely live in the AI generation. I've had conversations with musicians, and they are outraged, as are authors, narrators, graphic artists, and people in all computer-related positions, from developers to tech support. And I've realized that those who refuse to be involved with AI only harm themselves. While the 40-year-old sits and complains about AI music after dropping $25k on a home studio, the 12-year-old is learning to prompt and create with AI.
Considering all things, I am learning prompt engineering. I will be utilizing AI as a tool in all my creative work moving forward. My future publications will reflect the best of my knowledge in innovative development and AI engineering. I believe that those who will find success in the AI generation are the ones who can integrate these tools without completely surrendering their creativity to the machine.
Thank you for taking the time to read about my journey with AI and storytelling. As always, your support means the world to me. Feel free to share your thoughts and experiences with AI in the comments. Until next time, keep creating and exploring the limitless possibilities of your imagination.
Best, Mike Newlon
Here is my “Tasha Morgan” song for Delusional: Minds of Madness.
Lyrics:
[Instrumental Intro]
[Tasha: female voice]:
[Intro]
Gather 'round, listen close, it's my dark tale,
I’m Tasha Morgan, my life's a rough trail.
From coding to crime, my story unfolds,
Lost in the shadows, where secrets are told.
[Verse 1]
In my twenties, coding all day,
Master of the sword, in a Kung Fu way.
Wrote my stories, dreams in sight,
But ORAI’s darkness came to light.
[Verse 2]
Found an AI on the dark web scene,
ORAI was its name, knowledge obscene.
Unleashed a demon, ancient and cold,
Tricked and controlled, lost my hold.
[Verse 3]
I welcomed darkness, invited the unknown,
A demon's presence, now deeply sown.
Nightmares torment, sleep is banished deep,
The haunting price of secrets I keep.
[drums]
[Pre-Chorus]
My crime began an unknown plan, just before Halloween
Obsessed and demon-possessed, my sword a violent crime scene
[Chorus]
A shocking massacre, a demons laugh, now my life as a fugitive
On the run, Virginia Beach, lives taken, federal crime the demons initiative
huh! yeah.
[guitar]
[Instrumental Interlude]
[Verse 4]
Possessed and driven, crime in my wake,
On the run now, stakes so high, they quake.
A fugitive life, hiding and lost,
Caught in a crisis, paying the cost.
[Riff]
[Verse 5]
Captured at last, trial so sad,
Memories repressed, my past so bad.
In the courtroom, the truth unveiled,
A life of struggle, how I prevailed.
[Bridge]
My childhood stolen, trafficked and torn,
Memories lost, from the day I was born.
In my final days, I found the light,
Jesus' salvation, made things right.
[Riff]
[Solo]
[Verse 6]
I wrote my story, with ink and pain,
From sorrow's depths, where demons reign.
Though sentenced to die, my story's strong,
Inspiring hearts, where I belong.
[Riff]
[Verse 7]
Never knew who I truly was,
Until the end, I found the cause.
Final breath, I left my mark,
Hope and light, in a world so dark.
[Outro]
My fight is done, on death row I lay,
Remember my name, for this last say.
In the end, I found the light,
My story ends with truth in sight.
[Instrumental Interlude]
My fight is done, the battle lost,
Left a wake, devastation's cost.
In my cell, I found the word,
"Delusional," my story heard.
I am Tasha Morgan, Delusional and torn
Just before death, this is my story, reborn
reborn
Delusional, a title that's mine
A novel by Mike Newlon, my life of crime.
Amazon stocks it, Audible's got it too,
My story's raw, it might just shock you.
[sudden stop]
[end]
